Joel Sunny's First Live Concert – A Magical Night in Sydney

On Saturday, October 12th, Joel Sunny, the world-renowned violinist known for composing music inspired by fantasy novels, performed his first-ever live concert at the Pitt Street Uniting Church in Sydney. This unforgettable evening, attended by nearly 300 guests, was truly magical in every sense of the word.

The church, already a stunning venue, was transformed with over 600 glowing candles creating a warm, intimate ambiance. Attendees embraced the fantasy theme arriving in tiaras, ball gowns, and fae-ears, with one special guest being a three-month-old baby experiencing Joel’s music for the first time!

Joel’s performance featured a stunning setlist, including "Into the Woods," "Codex," "Middle of the Night," "Eden," "First Sight," "Parisian Lover," and "Last Dance," before closing with his most famous piece, "Luminary." With over 9 million views on YouTube, "Luminary" has captivated audiences worldwide, and hearing it live for the first time was nothing short of magical. The night was a mesmerising escape from reality for everyone in the room.

Following the concert, Joel sat down for an exclusive Q&A with Dominique Spanos, where he delved into his creative process of writing music inspired by books and gave us some updates on his upcoming album.

The event wasn’t just about the music—Celestial Events created an special moment for VIP guests with those attendees being treated to front-row seats, a signed Polaroid photo with Joel, and a gift box filled with thoughtful treats like a handcrafted "Luminary" cookie, a non-alcoholic specialty drink, a new-release fantasy book, a collector's VIP pin, and a book annotation pack. The evening attracted such heartwarming feedback from attendees.

@bellareadsfantasy called it "truly magical and transformative," while Angela D. shared, "Being able to attend was such a special experience for our family, I can't thank you enough for making it happen." Another attendee, Saam, remarked, "It was definitely like nothing I had experienced before."

A standout moment of the night was captured by Jill Ford, who shared the emotional impact the event had on so many

"You know what I loved the most? Chatting with people who felt like outsiders—saying things like ‘my friends don’t read books’— and watching their confidence grow throughout the night. By the end, they had connected with so many fellow readers and realised they’d found their tribe. It’s magical watching people find that supportive network. I love it so much!"

Joel Sunny’s first live concert was more than just a performance—it was an experience that united a community of book lovers and fantasy fans in a shared love for music and stories.

Our quote of the night was "When you are kind to others, it not only changes you it changes the world". We have a limited number of collector’s pins available for fans who couldn’t attend the event. If you'd like the chance to purchase one and add it to your lanyard, now’s your opportunity - see the link below.

On a personal note from your host Carly,

"Seeing this event come to life was truly one for the memory books. Organising a band with agents in multiple countries and time zones as well as meeting all the needs for someone like Joel was a huge effort, but I’m so glad it all came together for our Celestial audience. I love sharing these magical moments with you, no matter the occasion. My only wish is that I had more time to connect with each and every one of you individually!"

I hope to see you all in Melbourne and Brisbane for our next events. For more upcoming events and to join the community, follow along in our private Facebook group.
